The River School is a home for creativity; a venue that inspires. We celebrate a diverse array of people, thoughts, and practices. By the footprint we place on the land, we strive to cultivate a higher standard of sustainable living. Through experience, we unite ecology and spirit to create harmony.

Who We Are

We are artists, teachers, healers, dancers, ecologists; spirited people that have come together to create. We are diverse and open to all. We come to the River School to learn and educate, inspire and collaborate, and immerse ourselves in community.

Where We Are

The Truckee River flows through Mayberry Bend just outside our doorstep. The soothing sound of rushing current calms the mind as the vibrance of our gardens excites the spirit. Ten minutes west of the bustle of downtown Reno, the River School offers a peaceful setting for visitors.
Our Dancing Spirit studio provides a space for movement, yoga, and audiovisual presentations. It sits at the center of our school, surrounded by an abundance of greenery. The River Song room overlooks the Truckee River and offers space for workshops and small meetings. The Whispering Leaf space is home to a massage therapy studio, and our Singing Frog gallery exhibits the work of local artists.
All around us are our River School Gardens, which illuminate outdoor classrooms and gathering spaces. Our river path flows into Mayberry Park, further extending the green space of the school and serving as a bridge to the local community.

Sustainability

Here at the River School, we have made a committment to cultivating sustainability wherever we can. We educate by example with facilities that demonstrate our efforts in conservation and efficiency. We host classes and workshops that teach others in our community how to live a more sustainable lifestyle.
